Aisling Cliodhnadh Olsen was born in Kildare town County Kildare on 16 March 1984. Bea's father Brian the equine vet who committed suicide when Bea reached the age of three, was also an individual who committed suicide. Bea was informed of his passing at thirteen years of age. In order to pay tribute to her father, she adopted the stage name Bea and in 2017 wrote an article about suicides that impacted her family members for The Guardian. Bea along with her younger sister Sinead were nurtured by their mother Helen (nee Moloney) who was a secondary school teacher who was a jockey trainer. She also worked as a professional jockey. The family was obsessed with races and horses. Bea was a coach for the Irish National Stud in her young years. She knew, however, that racing wasn't what she was looking for in an occupation and she preferred to perform.
