Aaliyah Dana Haaughton rose to prominence after the release of the album she dubbed Age Ain't Nothing but a Number in 1994. Aaliyah Danahaughton was only 15 when the album became Gold. The group was heavily influenced by R. Kelly, and helped put her on the map. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dupri as well as Timbaland to release her second album One In A Million which contained the number-one hit single If You Only Knew. Aaliyah became a well-known R&B vocalist after the release. She was a part of the martial arts legend Jet Li in the 2000 action-romance film Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver spotted her in an award show.
