She was a performer, designer and singer and broke down barriers in the music industry. The dual nature of her character as a Mexican American performer was classic and modern. She introduced Tejano into mainstream culture with her innovative approach. Her name was rising to fame whose untimely passing shattered it. In the same way, with a great, welcoming and emerging artist passes away too soon, many mourned her potential she was to fulfill. The fans have worked hard over the years to preserve her legacy. Selena's tragic loss to gun violence resulted in a reaction within the Latino Community, similar to reactions following the deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. The singer was extremely popular throughout Latino communities across North America her music crossed lines of cultural difference to affect those of youth as well as old. Selena, who was hot and flamboyant stage performer who often referred to as Latina Madonna was the model on stage. She participated in anti-drug initiatives.
